OUR HISTORY
A journey of nearly six decades — from two classrooms and forty students to a thriving institution of over twelve hundred students.
For over six decades, Gitanjali School has been committed to providing quality education at an affordable fee structure, making it accessible to every family. Managed by the Ladies Welfare Centre (LWC) - BHEL, our school offers a safe, friendly, and caring environment where every student feels valued. With a beautiful green campus and a stress-free learning atmosphere, we encourage the students to learn with confidence, curiosity, and joy, without any unnecessary pressure.
The school was established in 1967–1968 under the LWC - BHEL, with a vision to nurture children in a disciplined and encouraging environment. It began humbly with just LKG and UKG, 40 students, and two dedicated teachers, under the guidance of its founding President, Mrs. Cariappa, and its first Principal, Mrs. R. Parthasarathy. From these modest beginnings grew an institution that has remained, ever since, devoted to the children of the township and the values that shaped it.
Over the decades, the school grew steadily alongside the community it served. Pre-KG was introduced in 1996–1997 under President Mrs. Pushpa Shashank Babu; the primary section expanded up to Class III by 2006–2007 and Class V by 2011–2012. More recently, Class VI was added in 2025–2026 and Class VII in 2026–2027, each step a response to the trust of generations of parents who chose Gitanjali for their children. Today the school is a vibrant institution of over 1,200 students spanning Pre-KG to Class VII, supported by 62 teaching staff and a committed team of 4 non-teaching and 30 maintenance staff.
Through all this growth, our commitment has never changed. We encourage every student to excel in academics and beyond, through Annual Day and Sports Day, the joyous celebration of Bonalu, Bathukamma, Independence Day and Republic Day, exhibitions in science, mathematics and art, and a rich life of music, dance, drama, yoga, and cultural competition. Above all, we help every student explore, grow, and achieve their full potential, nurturing young minds with knowledge, values, confidence, creativity, and compassion, and preparing them to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
